چکیده

Carbon sequestration is believed to “buy time” for technical change in the energy sector. To assess rigorously this widespread argument, we build an intertemporal optimization model where both abatement of fossil fuel emissions and biomass sequestration can be used to mitigate climate change. We confirm that permanent sequestration, if feasible, can be a cost-effective part of an overall climate change mitigation strategy. Optimal use of temporary sequestration depends mostly on the level of marginal damages and much less on expectations about future technical change in the energy sector. Temporary sequestration is unattractive when marginal damages are low.

Today, climate change and global warming caused by the emission of greenhouse gases is a big challenge to the world, especially in arid and semi-arid area. Afforestation is the most effective strategy to absorb carbon dioxide in terrestrial ecosystems and reduce global warming of the earth. The purpose of this study is to evaluate the effects of planting Eucalyptus camaldulensis and Amygdalus s...

مدل‌سازی اثر تغییر اقلیم بر انتشار دی‌اکسیدکربن خاک در مراتع خشک (جنوب ایران)

Introduction: Carbon stored in soils particularly in arid rangelands soils is the most significant carbon sink in terrestrial ecosystems. In arid rangelands, Soils have special places in both carbon sequestration and mitigate global warming. Therefore, any small change in the soil organic carbon (SOC) leads to a significant impact on the CO2 concentration in the atmosphere. Studies have shown t...

Forestry and the carbon market response to stabilize climate

This paper investigates the potential contribution of forestry management in meeting a CO2 stabilization policy of 550 ppmv by 2100. In order to assess the optimal response of the carbon market to forest sequestration we couple two global models. An energy-economy-climate model for the study of climate policies is linked with a detailed forestry model through an iterative procedure to provide t...

بررسی اثرات و پتانسیل عملیات مکانیکی آبخیزداری درترسیب کربن، حوزه آبخیز گاودره کردستان

The global warming due to increased greenhouse gas concentrations, especially carbon dioxide has led to severe climate change over the past decade. This has aggravated the destruction of natural resources, soil and water, especially in arid and semi-arid regions. One of the most important tools for adaptation or correction of the consequences of this crisis is the carbon sequestration using nat...
